I cannot think that man is meant to find happiness so easily! Happiness is like one of those palaces on an enchanted island, its gates guarded by dragons. One must fight to gain it; and, in truth, I do not know what I have done to deserve the good fortune of becoming Mercédès’ husband.”

Edmond Dantes (The Count Of Monte Cristo)
  • What does happiness mean? The significance can vary enormously and not only in quantity but also in the quality of the substance it conceives… I am sure that everyone has said, at least once in their lifetime “If I were this or that I’d be happy” or “If I only had this thing I’d be happy”. Everyone is free to have their own definition, which is completely necessary; nevertheless, I’ll share my thoughts about this with you.

  • Happiness should not be connected or subjected to another thing, to a person, or to a place; happiness should be connected to oneself, what I mean is that, as Edmond has said “its gates guarded by dragons. One must fight to gain it”, then happiness is the fulfillment of all the longs and dreams of one’s soul, but not because it has attained a given object or place, but because during that journey, the soul has gotten to know itself deeper, has found itself, and to be able to do that, that soul had to fight against those dragons, meaning fears, doubts…

  • One example is when you sit down and you start drawing, painting, writing either a letter, a song, a poem, or doing anything that makes you feel at peace with yourself, that’s when your spirits start throwing away any mental block that has thwarted it to its complete expression and freedom, and that what happiness is for me… The full expression of our spirit…
